About
Depth-Oriented Therapy for Lasting Change.
I’m a licensed clinical social worker providing depth-oriented therapy for adults and couples in Massachusetts.
Many of the people I work with have already spent a lot of time thinking about or trying to change what’s not working, yet still find themselves in the same patterns. From the outside, they may appear capable, thoughtful, and steady, but internally, something isn’t shifting in the way they want it to.
Often, these struggles are not random. They are shaped by deeper emotional and attachment patterns that developed over time and now operate automatically. They may show up in close relationships, in anxiety or overthinking, in reactivity or shutdown, or in a feeling of disconnection—from a partner, from others, or from yourself.
In our work together, we slow things down to understand what’s actually happening beneath the surface. As those patterns become clearer, new ways of responding and relating begin to emerge. The goal is not temporary relief, but meaningful, lasting change.
I approach this work with curiosity, respect, and a belief that meaningful change becomes possible when we understand the deeper patterns shaping our experience—not just the symptoms.
What it’s like to work with me
My work is grounded in a relational, psychodynamic approach. My style is engaged and direct, balanced with care and responsiveness. I don’t shy away from what’s uncomfortable, and I help you see patterns clearly and understand what’s driving them so that something can actually begin to shift.
I pay close attention to what happens in the moment—both in what you describe and in what unfolds between us — and use that to guide where we focus and how we move forward.
Professional background
Before becoming a therapist, I spent many years in leadership and consulting roles, working closely with individuals and organizations navigating complexity, conflict, and transition.
That experience continues to shape how I work: I tend to notice patterns quickly, name them clearly, and facilitate conversations that are both honest and productive.
“Sam has a way of validating my experience while also helping me dig deeper by recognizing and naming patterns, trying on different perspectives, and asking questions that cut through my own internal noise so I can focus on what really matters.”
